Abstract
Surgery remains a mainstay of breast cancer treatment. Goals of surgery are to remove the primary tumor from the breast and to stage the disease by axillary node biopsy or axillary node dissection. Mastectomy and partial mastectomy are primary options for breast cancer treatment. Risk-reducing mastectomy is an option for patients at elevated risk for breast cancer.
