Abstract
An embedded system is a part of a larger operating system designed to perform a specific set of functions. These kinds of devices are often used for data storage in the healthcare industry. Because of the potentially difficult operating circumstances seen in healthcare settings which are typified by temperature fluctuations and physical stressors like vibration and shock as Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) usually have to use industrial-grade embedded systems. These unique goods are designed to withstand such demanding circumstances without sacrificing their functionality. Embedded systems usually combine a CPU with an operating system, which allows them to function quickly in real-time situations even with constrained resources, especially in emergency situations. These systems include memory for data storage, sensors, actuators, different interfaces, and microprocessors, digital signal processors (DSPs) or converter microcontrollers. Within the medical field, embedded technologies are always being improved to reduce size, increase processing power, and include programmed automation, all of which improve patient treatment options and medicine administration. The potential solution to the physician crisis in rural regions is to integrate integrated Internet of Things (IoT) technology into medical devices. These systems’ fast processors and operating system interfaces help expedite the patient diagnosis and treatment procedures. This chapter explores the various dimensions of the Embedded Systems in Healthcare in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
