Abstract

In the field of computing, data deduplication methods are used to reduce duplicate copies and repeated data. The data storage and its utilization are improved by deduplication in addition to better network transfer. Due to reduced data storage requirement, the data transfer also becomes fats and efficient. Unique data chunks are identified, and by using suitable approach the duplicate data is eliminated by replacing the redundant chunks. This chapter presents an overview of data deduplication methods, types, file chunking, metadata, and the applications of deduplication process.
