Abstract

Traditional medicine has used Ziziphus spina-Christi (sidr-Rhamnaceae) for various diseases associated with digestion, infections, skin, and respiratory systems. It's also utilized in the treatment of diabetes. Its fruit is edible and has been used for various treatments in the past. This review compiles information from the literature on Ziziphus spina-Christi ethnomedicinal uses, phytochemistry, and pharmacology. The discipline of ethnophytopharmacology also investigates the therapeutic potential of Ziziphus spina-Christi. Academic journals, Pubmed, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Web of Science, and library searches were used to compile all from electronic databases on Ziziphus spina-Christi. This review highlights the phytochemical compounds and their biological activity, including biological studies in vitro and in vivo on various crude extracts and fractions and clinical trial findings on Ziziphus spina-Christi.
