Professor Syed Salman Ashraf got his BS and MS in Biochemistry from Iowa State University in 1988 and 1991, respectively and a doctorate from North Carolina State University in 1999. He has worked in biotech companies in Toronto and North Carolina for over 6 years in the areas of drug discovery and applied biotechnology. Additionally, he has over 20 years of experience in academia as a faculty member. His current research interests are in the areas of biotechnology, enzyme engineering, and protein structure and function as applied to enzyme/microbial wastewater remediation. He has over 120 publications and holds 4 US/Canadian patents. Salman is currently a professor and Chair of Biological Sciences at Khalifa University, having previously served as an Associate Dean for Postgraduate Studies there for 2 years.
