Dr. Razia Khanam is a Professor of Pharmacology at the College of Medicine, Gulf Medical University, Ajman. She completed her B.Pharm (1997), M.Pharm (1999, Pharmacology), and Ph.D. (2006, Pharmacology) from the School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Formerly known as Faculty of Pharmacy, Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi, India. She has over 20 years of experience teaching undergraduate and post-graduate students and supervising research for postgraduate students.
She is a recipient of “Career award for young scientists”, AICTE (2010), Travel grants by DST (2009), and Gold medalist (Jamia Hamdard University, 1999 batch). She has over 50 research publications including book chapters in the field of neurobehavioral pharmacology in international peer-reviewed journals and books.
Her research interests include studies on neurobehavioral disorders and their association with diabetes mellitus; effects of newer antidepressants on glucose homeostasis, oxidative stress, and the augmentation and combination strategies in treating treatment-resistant depression, and the role of trace elements in depression associated with diabetes.
