Personal profile

Dr. Naseem got his PhD from the University of Würzburg in 2009 in Molecular Host- Microbes Interactions. During his postdoctoral stay (2009-2016) at the Biocentre of the University of Wuerzburg, he applied systems biology approaches to assess hormone immune-networks in plants. He worked as Assistant Professor (2016-2018) at Bosphorus University in Istanbul at the Department of Molecular Biology & Genetics, where he was investigating artificial networks and synthetic biology of CO2-sequestration in plants. Since 2018, he has been working at Zayed University on Quinoa as halophytic model of plant-pathogen interaction. Dr Naseem is also investigating the molecular and genomic basis of the invasive biology of common reed as well as the metabolic adaptation of mangroves in the local ecosystems. Dr. Naseem is certified in teaching of higher education from Derek-Bok Center of Harvard University. He is EIT-Innovator fellow for food entrepreneurship with the European Institute of Innovation & Technology. Lately, Dr. Naseem obtained a PGD in Design Thinking & Innovation jointly from MIT and Colombia Business School as well as a diploma in Creativity Theory and its Philosophy from Cambridge University. With his active lab-based research and bio-innovation expertise, Dr. Naseem is applying systems and synthetic biology approaches to find solutions for issues of food security and climate mitigation strategies.
